I just wanted to stop in and tell you guys your doing a great job. I listen to the podcast every chance i get.

I do a little black and white comic (Zombiegeorge.com). I enjoy every minute of making it. I’m not a professional by any means but it is a labor of love.

I have thought about adding color but I don’t know where to start. I have bought the photoshop elements program and played with that but, I’m afraid that my inexperience with color will make my comic look worse than it does only in black and white.
I also don’t know how I could justify the amount of time it takes me to color something, but I know with practice I should get faster.

I’m going to have to learn how to color at some point so what do you guys think is the best( inexpensive )resource for learning this skill ?

Thanks again for all that you do and please forgive me for using the closest form of latin for ( color ) and not ( colour).

All the best to you Guys and Gal.

P.S. when you type in COLOR on your computer does it show that it is misspelled the way it does when I type in COLOUR? Just wondering.

      Hi!

Thanks for the kind words. Colouring is something that does indeed take practice and I think learning how to colour a comic has to be a topic we discuss in an upcoming podcast. It’s a big enough topic to fill a show on its own, if not two shows!

As for spelling, I have to say that whether colour or color is underlined in red depends on which dictionary I have set my browser to at the time. As a writer/cartoonist (as opposed to one of those full-time, cartoonist-cartoonists that I’m sure many would like to be!) who works across borders, I have several dictionaries installed on my system for correcting my spelling. On the whole the computer marks “color” is misspelled (because it is! :P) but sometimes I get “colour” (or everything I write, if I’ve set a totally foreign dictionary) underlined instead.

      Hey man,

So, as Zoe said, we’ll definitely do a podcast about colouring. The next two shows are already recorded, so it will be a little bit.

Here are some links to tutorials and articles about colouring that I have found very useful for the time being.

http://dresdencodak.tumblr.com/ ( a bunch of articles on this blog talk about colouring, and it’s definitely worth a read.)

Hopefully when we get the podcast up here, that will be of some help to you too.

(color gets red lines for me.)
